Speaking at the handover ceremony, BIPC Managing Director Raymond Asemakaha emphasized the company’s commitment to providing affordable, clean, and efficient transport solutions while creating employment opportunities for local youth. The long-term vision includes expanding the fleet to 100 electric vehicles.

“This initiative aims to provide efficient and cost-effective transportation, create jobs for local youth, and offer citizens better value for their money by reducing emissions and contributing to a cleaner environment,” Asemakaha stated.

Each vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art features, including:

  • Zero-emission technology

  • Geofencing and location tracking

  • In-built CCTV for enhanced passenger security

The taxis boast an impressive 500-kilometre range per charge, supported by a soon-to-be-established assembly and charging station at the BIPC Mergemax CNG/Petrol Station.

To enhance user experience, BIPC is also developing a dedicated mobile app for seamless 24/7 ride booking.

The Green Wheels project is a strategic move by the Benue State Government to reduce transportation costs, curb carbon emissions, and promote inclusive, sustainable development across the state.
