CurrentReport Blog On Friday, during the 19th convocation ceremony of Covenant University, Bishop David Oyedepo, the Chancellor and founder of the institution, made a surprising statement. Oyedepo revealed that he has not received any wages since the university was founded. Speaking to the graduates, he emphasized that the success stories and personal growth of the students have been his true compensation.
The convocation saw the conferment of first and higher degrees, along with the presentation of awards to 1,607 graduates. Oyedepo praised the graduates for their contributions to various sectors, including aviation, fashion, banking, and information and communications technology (ICT).
“I said this before God. I have not earned any wages from Covenant University since its inception. Your testimonies of success and breakthroughs in different fields of endeavor have been my earnings and wages,” he said.
Addressing the graduates, he encouraged them to be contributors to society, stating, “You are created to be a contributor. Find a place to contribute. You cannot be a contributor and be a failure. You will be part of the solution and not those who are problems.”
Covenant University, located in Ota, Ogun State, has gained recognition for its excellence in education and commitment to producing graduates equipped to impact their world positively. Since its founding, the institution has consistently ranked among Nigeria’s top universities, with many of its alumni making waves in various industries globally.
