The controversy erupted when prominent activist and social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, released an audio recording allegedly implicating Bobrisky in a N15 million bribery scheme. According to Otse, the cross-dresser reportedly offered the sum to operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an attempt to have money laundering charges against him dropped, and to evade a potential jail term at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State.
Bobrisky has vehemently denied the allegations, dismissing the audio as fake and an attempt to tarnish his image. However, the weight of the accusations seems to have taken a toll on him emotionally.
In a recent Facebook post, Bobrisky expressed his anguish, stating that he had never considered suicide before but was now struggling with the thought due to what he described as malicious attacks aimed at destroying him.
He wrote: “I have never in my life thought about suicide, but now it’s coming to my head seeing what human beings are doing to their fellow humans just in the name of bringing them down by force or because you don’t like them.”
The social media influencer, who has often been a polarizing figure due to his lifestyle and public persona, concluded his post by saying that he does not seek sympathy from anyone, adding that his late parents would have been the only people whose support he would have needed.
This revelation has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many of Bobrisky’s fans expressing concern for his well-being, while others continue to question the authenticity of the allegations against him.
The EFCC has not yet released an official statement regarding the claims made by VeryDarkMan. As the drama unfolds, Bobrisky’s followers are left wondering about the veracity of the bribery allegations and the emotional toll this controversy is taking on the popular internet personality.
