CurrentReport BlogĀ  former President Muhammadu Buhari’s signature was purportedly forged in order to withdraw an astounding $6,230,000 from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on February 8, 2023, according to testimony provided by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha. Mustapha made these assertions during Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the CBN,’s trial.

Mustapha claimed that in the process of forging Buhari’s signature, his own signature was also altered. He angrily denied knowing about the large amount that was allegedly taken out to pay for alleged foreign poll monitors. He asserts that the federal government and the SGF’s office are not authorized to ask the CBN for funding for such uses. It is imperative, as Mustapha noted, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) handle all issues pertaining to election observers.

The trial has taken an intricate turn since Michael Onyeka Ogbu, a CBN official, is saying that Jibril Abubakar, an official from the SGF’s office, received the large sum of money in cash. Ogbu said that in response to a request from the SGF, President Buhari and CBN governor Emefiele approved of this withdrawal.
