In a decisive victory, Governor Duoye Diri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Bayelsa State Governorship Election, has successfully clinched re-election. Current Report Media confirms that Governor Diri secured his victory in Bayelsa State following the announcement of results from the last local government, Southern Ijaw.
Governor Diri triumphed by winning in six local government areas, while his closest contender, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured victories in two local government areas.
With the declaration of the results in Southern Ijaw, the margin between Governor Diri and his nearest rival, Timipre Sylva, widened to 65,088 votes.
Governor Diri garnered a total of 175,196 votes, with Sylva trailing behind at 110,108 votes.
Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are currently finalizing the collation process at the center in Yenagoa, the state capital. The victory marks a significant moment in the Bayelsa State political landscape, solidifying Governor Duoye Diri’s mandate for another term.
