CurrentReport Blog As President Bola Tinubu prepares for a cabinet reshuffle, prominent social critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called for the removal of the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu. VDM’s remarks come in response to the recent announcement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, indicating that changes in the cabinet are imminent.
VDM expressed concerns over the current power distribution system in Nigeria, which he described as segregated. In a video posted on his Facebook page, he criticized the disparity in electricity access, where certain regions enjoy up to 20 hours of power daily while others struggle with inconsistent supply. He emphasized the need for equitable power distribution, stating, “Are you trying to say that poor people do not have access to light?”
With speculation about which ministers may be reshuffled, VDM urged the President to consider the performance of existing ministers while focusing on those who have failed to meet the needs of all Nigerians. His call for action reflects growing frustrations regarding Nigeria’s power sector and highlights the urgent need for reforms.
As the cabinet reshuffle approaches, all eyes will be on President Tinubu’s decisions and whether he will heed the call for change within the Ministry of Power.
