CurrentReport Blog Popular comedian and satirist, Dan Bello Galadanci, has taken a bold stand against Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, accusing him of prioritizing personal projects over critical reforms in education and healthcare. In a series of viral videos, Galadanci alleged that despite the governor’s claims of infrastructural achievements, Bauchi’s schools and hospitals remain in disrepair, with public funds allegedly diverted towards non-essential projects, including the governor’s residence.
Galadanci vowed to continue his campaign against corruption, targeting both Bauchi and the wider Northern Nigeria region. In one video, he satirically suggested that Governor Mohammed harbors ambitions of becoming Nigeria’s president despite his administration’s poor performance in healthcare and education. He further pledged to escalate his challenge if the state government did not retract its accusations, which labeled him a liar seeking fame.
“It’s not just Bauchi; this is a problem across Northern Nigeria, and we can’t continue like this,” Galadanci said in Hausa, emphasizing his commitment to combat corruption, especially in sectors like education and healthcare. The comedian claimed to have reviewed the state’s budget performance from 2021 to 2024, describing the extent of embezzlement as “astonishing,” citing a surge in construction costs for the governor’s mansion as one example.
Galadanci also presented visual evidence of dilapidated hospitals and schools across Bauchi, questioning the governor’s awareness of the dire conditions in these facilities.
In response, Bauchi’s Ministry of Education dismissed Galadanci’s claims, with Commissioner Jamila Dahiru branding him a liar. The Ministry’s public relations officer, Jalaludeen Usman, praised Governor Mohammed’s efforts, highlighting several key initiatives including the adoption of policies aimed at improving education for girls, inclusive education, and the safety of schools. Usman also noted the government’s sponsorship of WAEC, NECO, and JAMB exams for over 14,000 students, positioning Bauchi as a leading state in educational reforms.
The Ministry further emphasized that since 2019, Governor Mohammed has overseen significant improvements in school infrastructure, including the renovation and remodeling of 5,000 educational facilities, supported by the World Bank-assisted AGILE project and other initiatives.
