The singer made this remark while discussing his foundation’s planned donations to orphanages and efforts to combat drug abuse during an interview on The Morning Hustle podcast.
Addressing criticisms of hypocrisy, Davido acknowledged that some people have questioned his stance against drug abuse due to his use of cannabis. However, he clarified his position, saying:
“I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed, but I don’t count weed as a drug.”
He expressed concern over the growing issue of drug addiction, particularly among youths, and emphasized the need for action.
“A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit,” he added.
