CurrentReport Blog Delta State Deputy Governor, Monday Onyeme, has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its “change” mantra, claiming Nigerians have learned hard lessons under the party’s leadership. Onyeme made the remarks on Friday in Asaba during a courtesy visit by Non-Working Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Delta State Executive Committee.
He pointed out that during the PDP’s rule, the fuel price was pegged at N87 per litre, and Nigerians enjoyed greater democratic freedom. Onyeme emphasized that under the PDP-led government, citizens were free to protest, and the government was responsive to public concerns.
Contrasting this with the current state under the APC, he said, “Nigerians are now grumbling about the fuel price, and the freedom to protest is no longer there.” He urged Nigerians not to despair but to rally around the PDP to redeem the country and bring back better governance.
Onyeme assured PDP members that their efforts would be recognized, stating he would reach out to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to ensure continued service to Deltans. Meanwhile, Morgan Ogapha, Chairman of the Non-Working Members of the PDP State Executive Committee, reaffirmed their commitment to the party and called for political patronage for those not re-elected to the executive council.
Onyeme encouraged PDP members to stay loyal, asserting that a return of the party to power would bring relief to Nigerians facing economic challenges under the APC administration.
