CurrentReport Blog Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged for more prayers to help his administration address the persistent challenges facing the state. Governor Oborevwori made this appeal while welcoming the State Executive of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), led by State Chairman Bishop Kingsley Enakhireri, at the Government House on Wednesday.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized his administration’s dedication to ensuring the security of lives and property in Delta State. He reassured residents that the current security issues are temporary and will be resolved.
“On the issue of security, we are doing our best. We want to assure Deltans that this is just a phase and it will come and go. Continue to pray for us while we will continue to serve the people,” said the governor. He cited Section 14(2b) of the 1999 Constitution, highlighting that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”
Addressing the ongoing national protests, Governor Oborevwori criticized some opposition members for claiming credit for the peaceful conduct of protesters in Delta State. He attributed the calmness to collective efforts, especially the prayers from the church and the collaboration of all stakeholders.
“I want to thank the PFN for the role it played at this trying time of a national protest. We can see that the state is peaceful. People were expecting violence like the way it was during ENDSARS,” the governor remarked. He emphasized that the peaceful atmosphere was due to the prayers and vigilance of local leaders, not the actions of distant critics.
Bishop Enakhireri expressed the PFN’s unwavering support for Governor Oborevwori’s administration and commended his effective management of state affairs, particularly during the national protests.
Delta State continues to seek divine intervention and collective effort to overcome its challenges, as the government pledges ongoing commitment to the security and welfare of its citizens.
