CURRENT REPORT BLOG A recent study, co-authored by renowned climate scientist James Hansen, has alarming findings. It suggests that the planet is heading for a faster rate of warming than earlier predictions. The research, published in Oxford Open Climate Change, utilizes paleoclimate data, climate models, and observations, revealing that Earth’s climate sensitivity is greater than previously known. The report calls for urgent action, labeling the current situation as an early phase of a climate emergency. It warns that a substantial heat surge is already underway and could lead to temperatures exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by the 2020s and surpassing 2 degrees Celsius by 2050.
