CurrentReport Blog Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has been admitted to hospital and will miss his side’s crucial Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Sunday.

The club confirmed in an official statement that the 47-year-old had been feeling unwell for several days and was taken to hospital late on Friday evening. He remains under observation and is undergoing further medical tests.

“The Magpies’ head coach was admitted to hospital late on Friday evening, having felt unwell for a number of days,” Newcastle United said.

“Medical staff kept Eddie in hospital overnight for further tests, which are ongoing. He is conscious and talking with his family, and is continuing to receive expert medical care.”

Despite the scare, Howe is reported to be conscious and in communication with his family. Newcastle fans and the wider football community have sent their well wishes to the Premier League manager, who led the Magpies to a Carabao Cup final appearance last season and continues to be instrumental in the club’s resurgence.

In his absence, assistant manager Jason Tindall and coach Graeme Jones will lead the team against Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United. The match is a key fixture in the race for European qualification, with both clubs eyeing a Champions League spot.

Howe’s health remains the priority, and updates from the club are expected as more information becomes available.
