CurrentReport Blog As the Edo 2024 governorship elections draw to a close, the Nigeria Police Force has announced a comprehensive security strategy aimed at ensuring peace across the state. The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of election security, Frank Mba, outlined the strategy in a statement issued on Sunday night by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
With growing tension surrounding the potential outcome of the election, the police have taken proactive steps to maintain order. According to the statement, the security measures include a Show of Force Exercise, designed to boost public confidence and demonstrate the Force’s readiness to respond swiftly to any threats to public safety.
The DIG has also ordered heightened security deployment around key locations, including INEC facilities, major stakeholders involved in the election, and other critical infrastructure across the state.
In a call for calm, the Nigeria Police urged Edo residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding. The Force further warned against any actions that could disrupt the existing peace, assuring the public that security personnel are fully prepared to maintain law and order throughout the state.
