CurrentReport Blog In a significant move aimed at combating economic and financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has delivered a decisive blow by reclaiming and handing over 14 valuable assets to Governor Peter Mba of Enugu State.
The ceremony, held at the EFCC Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, showcased the dedication and perseverance of the commission in tackling corruption. Chairman Ola Olukoyede underscored the importance of the occasion, highlighting that the assets, accrued through rigorous investigations since 2007, were ultimately forfeited to the Federal Government.
With convictions secured against individuals involved in the unlawful acquisition of these assets, the EFCC’s relentless pursuit of justice has yielded tangible results. President Bola Tinubu’s directive to transfer these assets, ranging from real estate to vital infrastructure like radio and television transmission equipment and medical facilities, demonstrates a firm commitment to restoring integrity and accountability at every level of governance.
By returning these assets to the Enugu State Government, the EFCC not only fulfills its mandate to recover stolen public resources but also empowers local authorities to utilize these resources for the betterment of their communities.
