EFCC Makes Major Bust: 64 Suspected Internet Fraudsters Arrested in Osun State

CurrentReport Blog In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) apprehended sixty-four individuals suspected of Internet fraud in Osun State. The operation, conducted on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in Ede, Osun State, yielded substantial results following actionable intelligence on the suspects’ fraudulent activities.

Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media & Publicity of the Commission, disclosed that the arrests were made based on compelling evidence of fraudulent behavior within the suspects’ vicinity. The seizure included 18 high-end vehicles, 18 laptops, 112 mobile phones, three PlayStation games, five motorcycles, and various other incriminating documents.

Oyewale emphasized that the EFCC is committed to bringing perpetrators of cybercrime to justice and ensuring a safe digital environment for all citizens. The suspects are slated to face legal proceedings upon the conclusion of thorough investigations.
