CurrentReport Blog Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus, has lauded the performance of Nigeria’s economy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting positive shifts in trade dynamics. According to the actress, the country’s imports have decreased while exports have significantly increased, signaling an expanding economy.
Taking to her Instagram story, Badmus emphasized Nigeria’s progress under Tinubu, noting that the country has shifted from a consumption-based economy to one focused on production.
“Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing. That is a sign that our economy is expanding. For the year-to-date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion, while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion. This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months. It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production,” she wrote.
Badmus’s appraisal comes amidst rising economic challenges in the country, with inflation and hardship affecting millions of Nigerians. Just last month, widespread demonstrations, tagged the ‘End Hunger Protests,’ saw citizens protesting the increasing cost of living and worsening economic conditions.
