Court Grants Bail in N500 Million

Bello was granted bail on Thursday by Justice MaryAnne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court. The judge set bail at N500 million and required Bello to provide three sureties, each owning property in upscale Abuja neighborhoods such as Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro.

Justice Anenih also ordered Bello to surrender his international passport and restricted him from leaving Nigeria without prior court approval.

EFCC Charges Against Bello

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Yahaya Bello alongside Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu on a 16-count charge. The charges include conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and unlawful possession of property.

While all three defendants pleaded not guilty, Justice Anenih had earlier denied Bello’s initial bail application due to procedural issues. However, his co-defendants were granted bail.

What’s Next for Bello?
