FAAN Assures Safety and Security at Lagos Airport Following Electrical Incident

CurrentReport Blog The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has swiftly responded to reassure passengers and staff of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos following an electrical short circuit incident on Thursday.
Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, issued a statement on Friday confirming the incident but emphasizing that airport operations remained uninterrupted.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 11:20 am in the E-arrival hall of the old terminal, led to a brief moment of panic among passengers as a fire broke out in the E-Arrival Finger of the airport. However, Mrs. Orah assured the public that the situation was quickly resolved to ensure the safety of all individuals present.

In response to the incident, FAAN promptly cut off power to the affected area and mobilized its Engineering department to identify and address the source of the electrical spark. The suspected cable was swiftly disconnected to prevent further risk, and normal operations resumed within minutes.
