CurrentReport Blog The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has announced that two of the three Bus and Taxi Terminals currently under construction by the FCT Administration will be completed by January. Wike made the announcement during an inspection of the ongoing projects in Abuja on Tuesday.
He revealed that once completed, all buses and taxis would be required to operate solely from the designated terminals, with no vehicles allowed on FCT roads outside of these hubs. This move is expected to streamline transportation and improve the flow of traffic in the capital city.
The terminals, located at Mabushi, Eagle Square, and Kugbo, were inaugurated in July with a 15-month timeline for completion. However, the contractor has committed to delivering the Mabushi and Kugbo terminals by January, nine months ahead of schedule.
“For the terminal at Eagle Square, we had some challenges due to underground facilities, but those have been resolved with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA),” said Wike, assuring that work will soon resume at that site.
These terminals are designed to provide a secure and convenient travel experience for FCT commuters, a project aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. According to Wike, the new infrastructure is also aimed at reducing insecurity and improving transportation in the territory.
This announcement highlights the FCT Administration’s commitment to enhancing public transportation while addressing security concerns in the city
