CurrentReport Blog The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged local and foreign investors to seize opportunities in Abuja’s booming sectors, including real estate, agriculture, tourism, mining, renewable energy, and construction. Wike made this call on Wednesday at the inaugural Abuja Business and Investment Summit, organized by the Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL). The summit aimed to showcase the wealth of investment possibilities within the FCT.

Wike highlighted the FCT’s strategic location, growing population, and government efforts to create an investor-friendly environment as key reasons to consider Abuja for business. He noted that the FCT Administration has rolled out initiatives to ensure investors thrive, including significant improvements in infrastructure, security, and business facilitation.

Among the upcoming developments in the FCT are nine major infrastructure projects. Wike emphasized that road and transportation networks are being prioritized to ensure seamless connectivity across the territory. Additionally, the FCT Administration is working closely with security agencies to provide a safe environment conducive to business growth.

The Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL) and the Abuja Enterprise Agency are also playing crucial roles in supporting investors. Wike assured that the processes for setting up businesses in Abuja have been streamlined, allowing for a smoother investment journey.

“I invite you to explore the various investment opportunities in the FCT. Whether you are interested in real estate development, technology incubation, or agribusiness, there is a place for you here,” said Wike, encouraging attendees to capitalize on the fertile business environment.

In response to concerns about the informal sector, Wike stressed the importance of adhering to planning laws in the development of Abuja. He warned that unauthorized structures and shanties would be removed in compliance with the law, reiterating that a well-planned city is essential for sustainable growth.

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, also spoke at the summit, lauding the FCT Administration for its forward-thinking approach to investment promotion. Soludo highlighted the need for Nigeria to enhance its efforts in attracting foreign direct investment, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
