CurrentReport Blog The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has highlighted the critical role of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as the only funding source for development projects within Abuja. Speaking during an inspection of ongoing projects in the FCT, Wike stressed that the FCT Administration depends entirely on IGR to support various infrastructure initiatives across the city center and area councils.
During his visit, the minister inspected the full-scope development of the 11-kilometer FCT Highway 105 (Kuje Highway), which stretches from the Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction. He also reviewed the emergency construction of a 5-kilometer township road from Garage Junction to the LEA Secretariat in the Kuje Area Council.
Wike underscored the importance of prudence in managing resources and encouraged residents to fulfill their tax obligations, as these funds are essential to sustaining infrastructure projects in Abuja. “We restrict the number of projects and ensure that we have gone far before awarding other projects and that funding is available so that there will be no abandoned projects,” Wike explained.
