Wike made this declaration during the FCT Security Committee meeting held on Friday, December 20, 2024, ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Wike’s Call for Vigilance
Speaking at the meeting, the minister emphasized the need for heightened vigilance during the festive season.
“Normally, criminals try to take advantage and make it uncomfortable for our citizens. I believe we are prepared to provide security for everyone,” Wike stated.
He assured residents that the administration is committed to ensuring Abuja remains safe for both businesses and leisure activities.
“The people in Abuja must sleep with both eyes closed and be able to run their businesses,” he added.
FCT Police Intensify Efforts
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, also addressed the media after the meeting, affirming that security agencies are stepping up measures to maintain peace and order.
“We are intensifying efforts to ensure the safety of citizens during and after the end-of-year festivities,” Disu said.
