FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Welcomes Investment from Rwanda and Sweden for Abuja’s Economic Development

This promising development emerged following meetings with the Rwandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency Christophe Bazivamo, and the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency Annika Hahn-Englund, on Tuesday.

Minister Wike emphasized the unwavering support of President Bola Tinubu for the FCTA’s initiatives to enhance the operational environment for foreign missions in Abuja. He expressed his gratitude to the envoys for recognizing the strides made in infrastructure and security within the capital city, reaffirming his commitment to welcoming investors from these countries.

In a statement, Wike remarked, “We are happy that you’re appreciating what we are doing on infrastructure and security in Abuja. It is our duty to make all things convenient for all foreign Embassies.” He further underscored his administration’s readiness to collaborate with foreign investors, bolstered by the support of their respective countries.

Rwandan Partnership in Environmental Management

The meeting with Rwandan High Commissioner Christophe Bazivamo was particularly fruitful, as Bazivamo indicated that Rwandan investors have already shown interest in managing environmental issues in Abuja. This collaboration aligns with Wike’s vision of addressing environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions. The partnership is expected to bring advanced environmental management practices to the FCT, enhancing the city’s green initiatives and overall sustainability.

Swedish Collaboration in Digital Technologies and Transportation

In discussions with Swedish Ambassador Annika Hahn-Englund, the focus shifted to digital technologies and transportation management. Ambassador Hahn-Englund highlighted Sweden’s strong track record and comparative advantage in these sectors. She expressed her country’s intent to deepen the bilateral relationship with Nigeria, which has been robust over the years.

The Swedish ambassador emphasized the availability of capable investors in her country, eager to bring their expertise to Abuja. This collaboration is anticipated to introduce cutting-edge digital solutions and efficient transportation systems, contributing to the city’s modernization and technological advancement.

Minister Wike assured both envoys of his administration’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for foreign investments. He reiterated the FCTA’s dedication to facilitating the operations of foreign missions and ensuring that international investors find Abuja an attractive and supportive location for their ventures.
