CurrentReport Blog The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has expressed strong satisfaction with the quality and pace of ongoing infrastructural developments across Abuja. The commendation came on Monday during his inspection tour of several major construction projects within the capital city.
Projects visited included the renovation of the Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC), the N5 Extension from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III, the Gishiri village road network in Katampe District, and the N16 Interchange at NICON Junction, which links Maitama and Katampe Districts to Wole Soyinka Way.
“Frankly speaking, we are very impressed with what we have seen. The quality of work is commendable, and the projects are progressing on schedule,” Wike remarked. He assured that contractors are being paid on time, which has helped avoid delays.
The minister highlighted the nearing completion of the AICC, noting that the transformation from its previous state was remarkable. He also announced that the N16 Interchange will be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu in May as part of events marking the President’s second year in office.
The N5 road extension project is also expected to be completed by the end of May, all funded under the 2024 FCT Statutory Budget, which remains active until the end of June.
Wike emphasized the exceptional budget performance, revealing that 95% of the capital projects in the 2024 budget have been executed, calling it an unprecedented milestone in the FCT’s history.
“There is no project captured in the 2024 budget that has not been addressed,” he concluded.
The 2025 FCT budget has been submitted to the National Assembly, and its defense will commence after the legislative recess.
