This latest evacuation underscores the ongoing commitment to prioritize the welfare of Nigerian citizens abroad.
Ambassador Kabiru Musa, Charge d’Affaires En Titre of the Nigerian Mission in Libya, announced the successful repatriation in a statement released on Tuesday. The group of evacuees, comprising 78 males, 55 females, 13 children, and one infant, departed from Tripoli International Airport aboard chartered flight UZ 189. They are expected to arrive at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos on the same day.
Ambassador Musa highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Federal Government and the IOM in Libya, emphasizing their commitment to the Voluntary Humanitarian Repatriation (VHR) program. This initiative aims to provide assistance to Nigerian migrants who express a desire to return home. The success of this repatriation exercise reflects the dedication of both authorities in ensuring the safe return of stranded citizens.
