CURRENT REPORT BLOG A female marketing employee of a bank in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has tragically taken her own life by consuming an insecticide. The 32-year-old, identified as Amarachi Ugochukwu, reportedly committed suicide within the bank premises on Monday. Ugochukwu discreetly drank the insecticide in the restroom around 1 pm, unbeknownst to her colleagues. Concerns arose when her phone, left on her table, went unanswered, prompting a search for her.
Ugochukwu was discovered lifeless in the restroom with the insecticide bottle and a suicide note. In the note, she attributed her decision to the harsh economic conditions, expressing despair over her life’s challenges. She apologized to her parents and family members, concluding with a plea for divine mercy. The bank manager reported the incident to the police, stating that Ugochukwu had locked herself in the toilet to commit suicide. The police are currently investigating the matter, and the body has been deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy.
