CurrentReport Blog Nigeria’s Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has named a 35-man squad for the team’s final training camp in preparation for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON). The camp, which started on Monday, has seen the seven-time African champions relocate to Abuja ahead of their tournament campaign.
The majority of the squad consists of players who were part of Nigeria’s successful WAFU B U-20 Championship campaign in Togo last year. Key figures such as Daniel Bameiyi, Ebenezer Harcourt, Adamu Maigari, Kenneth Igbokwe, and Sabiu Mohammed are all included in the squad. In addition, rising stars like Sulaiman Alabi ‘Jojo’, Nasiru Salihu, Oliseh Divine, Bidemi Amole, and Clinton Jephta will also play crucial roles.
A total of seven foreign-based players have been called up to join the Flying Eagles in their final preparations for the tournament, adding further strength and experience to the squad.
Nigeria has been drawn into Group B of the U-20 AFCON, alongside strong contenders Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa. The tournament is set to kick off in Cairo, Egypt, on April 27, with the Flying Eagles aiming to secure another continental title.
With a blend of domestic and foreign-based talent, the Flying Eagles are ready to take on the best of African youth football in their quest for success.
