In a heartfelt interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Akindele revealed that since their separation in 2022, she has been solely responsible for their twin boys, whom they welcomed in 2018.
“I have children I’m raising alone,” Akindele stated, as she recounted her struggles following her mother’s death, the collapse of her marriage, and her loss in the 2023 general elections. The actress admitted she broke down emotionally under the weight of these events, describing the period as one of the darkest moments of her life.
Funke and JJC Skillz got married in 2016 but announced their separation in June 2022. At the time, JJC shared on Instagram that they had unresolved issues around their children’s custody and shared business interests.
Despite the separation, Akindele claims she has had to take full responsibility for their children, with no assistance from the father. She added that dealing with public scrutiny while navigating personal loss made the experience even more overwhelming.
