Current State of Zamfara’s Education

The neglected education system in Zamfara has been grappling with challenges across all levels, from primary to tertiary institutions. Governor Lawal, in a recent broadcast, highlighted the issues plaguing the sector, including poor learning environments and inadequate personnel.

Emergency Response Initiatives

To address these pressing challenges, the state government has initiated a comprehensive emergency response plan. This includes the construction and renovation of 245 schools spread across the 14 local government areas. Additionally, the provision of two-seater desks for pupils and students, totaling 9,542, aims to enhance the learning experience.

Infrastructure Enhancement

Equipping schools is a crucial aspect of the emergency response. The government is set to provide 619 tables and 926 chairs for teachers in the renovated and newly constructed schools. This step is vital in creating a conducive environment for both educators and students.

Investing in Quality Education

Governor Lawal’s administration is committed to investing in quality education. As part of this commitment, the government will sponsor 50% of Zamfara indigenes admitted into the Federal Government Girls College Gusau for the upcoming 2023-2024 academic sessions. This initiative aims to ensure access to quality education for students in the state.

Financial Support for Students

In a bid to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians, the Zamfara State government covered the National Examination Council (NECO) fees for all public school candidates who sat for the 2023 exams. Additionally, certificates for the 2019 NECO examinations have already been distributed, demonstrating the government’s commitment to accountability.
