Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq Swears in Six New High Court Judges in Kwara State

CurrentReport Blog In a significant move to strengthen the judiciary in Kwara State, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on Friday swore in six new high court judges. This event brings the total number of judges appointed by the governor since his administration began in 2019 to 11.

Governor Abdulrazaq described the occasion as a key milestone, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing access to justice, fairness, and upholding the rule of law. “This also makes a total of 11 High Court Judges whose oath of office I have administered within five years in office,” he remarked.

The governor congratulated the newly appointed judges and their families, acknowledging their dedication and hard work. “Today, you have been entrusted with the immense responsibility of upholding justice and ensuring that the rights of every citizen are protected,” he said.

He further expressed confidence that the judges would perform their duties with diligence and impartiality, while keeping the best interests of the community and national security at heart. In his address, the governor cited the words of Usman Dan Fodio, stating, “A kingdom can endure unbelief, but it cannot endure injustice.”

Governor Abdulrazaq also highlighted his administration’s efforts to support the judiciary, noting the renovation and remodeling of several court facilities across the state. He recently approved the reconstruction of the former Revenue Court at GRA Ilorin, aiming to provide additional courtrooms for judges and improve the environment for the Revenue Courts.

In addition, the governor revealed that official SUVs have been procured for the newly appointed judges, and the state government has ensured the timely payment of allowances and entitlements for judicial officers. “A seamless working relationship between the two arms of government has ensured timely payments of allowances and entitlements to the judicial officers, among other things,” he added.

Governor Abdulrazaq praised the judiciary, legislature, and security agencies for their collaborative approach in fostering development in Kwara State. He emphasized the importance of continued unity in pursuing the growth of both Kwara and Nigeria as a whole.

The governor’s efforts to enhance the judiciary’s capabilities demonstrate a commitment to justice, peace, and progress, ensuring that the judicial system remains strong and effective for all citizens.
