CurrentReport Blog As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Anniversary, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has urged Nigerians to remain peaceful, patient, and resilient, emphasizing that “there is no pain without gain.” Speaking at the anniversary celebration held at the Arcade Ground of the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun acknowledged the challenges brought by the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration but assured Nigerians of a positive outcome in the long run.

In his address, Governor Abiodun highlighted Nigeria’s 64-year journey, emphasizing the nation’s numerous milestones and triumphs over adversity. He praised the resilience of Nigerians, stating, “This day holds immense significance in our collective history as it reminds us of the bravery, sacrifices, and undying hope our founding fathers held when they envisioned a free, united, and prosperous Nigeria.”

Abiodun acknowledged the current economic hardships caused by global pressures and domestic challenges, including rising inflation, unemployment, and the increasing cost of living. He stressed the need for immediate action to address these issues, while also expressing confidence in the efforts of President Tinubu’s administration.

“Under the leadership of our esteemed President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the federal government has swiftly implemented bold and deliberate measures aimed at repositioning the economy. These initiatives, though necessary, come with some measure of sacrifice. As the saying goes, ‘There is no gain without some pain,’ we must persevere, for there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

Addressing the recent calls for protests, Governor Abiodun encouraged Nigerians to engage in constructive dialogue rather than destructive actions. He warned against aligning with those advocating for violence, emphasizing that protests could lead to anarchy.

“Let us not align with those who seek to fuel discord by advocating for protests, violence, and civil disobedience. Instead, let us engage constructively and work with the government, knowing that this is an inclusive administration that does not intend to unduly burden its citizens,” he added.

Governor Abiodun also reiterated his administration’s focus on infrastructure, social welfare, education, youth empowerment, and agriculture. These efforts, he said, are designed to position Ogun State as an emerging economic powerhouse in Nigeria.

As the nation reflects on its 64 years of independence, Abiodun’s message of patience, perseverance, and constructive engagement aims to inspire hope and resilience among Nigerians in the face of current challenges.
