Governor Debunks Reports of Kidnappings in Maradun

Lawal also refuted reports of a recent mass kidnapping in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara. Allegations had surfaced claiming that over 50 women and children were abducted during an attack on Kakin Dawa village. However, the governor dismissed the claims as false.

“I am not aware that 50 people were kidnapped in Maradun Local Government. Whoever gave you that information, it’s not correct,” Lawal stated.

He further highlighted that the state has not recorded any major kidnapping incidents in the past six months, attributing this improvement to ongoing security measures.

Improved Security in Zamfara

Governor Lawal acknowledged that while insecurity persists, the situation in Zamfara State has significantly improved compared to previous years:

“In the past, hardly a day went by without hearing that 300 people were being killed. Within the last six months, I don’t think there has been any such incident reported in Zamfara State.”

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring safety and security through strategic efforts rather than striking deals with bandits.
