Governor Hyacinth Alia Commissions Four Factories to Boost Benue’s Economy

The projects, spearheaded by the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) under the leadership of Managing Director Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, include the BIPC Polythene and Nylon Factory, BIPC Nails Limited, and the expanded BIPC Bread and Water Factories.

Driving Economic Growth and Job Creation

Speaking at the event, Governor Alia, represented by the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Industries, Manasseh Alumo Orpin, highlighted the transformative impact of these factories. He described them as a testament to his administration’s commitment to fostering local production, reducing reliance on imports, and creating employment opportunities.

“The BIPC Polythene and Nylon Factory will address the demand for packaging materials locally, boosting industries and creating jobs,” the governor said. He further emphasized the role of BIPC Nails Limited in supporting Benue’s construction and infrastructure sectors.

The expansion of the BIPC Bread and Water Factories was also praised for its role in enhancing food security and addressing dietary needs, while generating both direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Economic Impact and Vision for the Future

Collectively, these projects are expected to create 300 direct jobs and 400 indirect jobs while boosting internally generated revenue (IGR). The governor noted that the ventures position Benue as a hub for industrial growth in Nigeria, marking the start of a new era of economic revolution in the state.

“Our vision is an industrially diverse, resilient, and economically self-sufficient Benue State,” Alia said. He reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment through deliberate policies, enhanced infrastructure, and transparent governance.

Unveiling BIPC Premium Lager Beer

During the event, Dr. Asemakaha announced the upcoming launch of the BIPC Premium Lager Beer on December 22, 2024. The beer, produced by the Food Basket Brewery, a subsidiary of BIPC, is designed to celebrate the creativity and resilience of the Benue people.

“This Christmas, the BIPC Premium Lager Beer will bring a refreshing touch to family gatherings and festivities, embodying the spirit of unity and joy,” he said.

The governor commended Dr. Asemakaha and the BIPC team for their dedication and innovation, pledging continued support for initiatives that align with the state’s developmental goals.

With these ventures, Benue State is set to strengthen its reputation as the “Food Basket of the Nation” and a rising industrial powerhouse in Nigeria.
