During a condolence visit to Torankawa in Bunkure Local Government Area, Governor Okpebholo was accompanied by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other dignitaries. The governor expressed his outrage over the killings and vowed to ensure justice for the victims.

Governor Okpebholo, visibly angry and emotional, stated, “We will ensure that justice is served on those responsible for this heinous act.” His commitment to supporting the bereaved families was evident, with promises of cash and food donations.

The killings of the innocent hunters sparked widespread protest, with hundreds of family members and supporters taking to the streets. Demonstrators carried placards calling for justice, including messages like “We demand justice for the killings of our people,” “Hunters are not criminals,” and “We demand the speedy dispensation of justice in this matter.”

Many hunters armed with hunting weapons joined the peaceful protest, chanting slogans and raising their voices against the violence. The protestors also called for an end to the killings in the North, with placards such as “Killings in the North must stop,” “Northerners are peace-loving citizens,” and “Justice must prevail.”

Despite the heightened tension, local residents and security forces maintained order as the governor’s convoy passed through the area.

The event has sparked widespread calls for justice and better security, with many hoping that the authorities will swiftly address the situation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
