CurrentReport Blog Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has intensified efforts to rebuild Bama Local Government Area with the launch of a major water project to address the challenges of access to potable drinking water.
The announcement was made during Governor Zulum’s visit to the Shehu of Bama, Dr. Umar Kyari, at his palace on Thursday. A statement by Abdulrahman Bundi, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on new media, confirmed the development on Friday.
Rebuilding Bama: A Top Priority
During his visit, Governor Zulum emphasized the need to restore infrastructure and improve living conditions for communities recovering from the devastating Boko Haram insurgency.
“Bama is one of the communities worst hit by Boko Haram insurgency; the destructions were unimaginable. However, we have made significant progress in our rebuilding efforts,” Zulum stated.
Key Initiatives Announced
- Water Project: Zulum launched the construction of a major water project in Bama, adding to the nine mega water projects already completed across the state, including in Ngarannam, Pulka, Chibok, Azare, and Maiduguri metropolis.
- Road Rehabilitation: Plans to rehabilitate Bama township road networks were also unveiled to improve transportation and facilitate movement within the area.
- Education Development: The governor announced the establishment of a high Islamic college in Bama to streamline Almajiri education and provide certification, ensuring structured learning opportunities for youth.
Commitment to Restoration
“Our aim is to restore normalcy and improve the living conditions of our people,” Zulum said, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to rebuilding efforts and community welfare.
The initiatives reflect Governor Zulum’s commitment to rebuilding infrastructure and providing critical services to residents affected by years of insurgency in Borno State.
