The calamity, consisting of two separate downpours within a short span, has wreaked havoc on the community, with over 200 houses destroyed and two individuals injured and hospitalized.
According to eyewitnesses, the first rainfall, which occurred nine days ago, already devastated over 100 houses. However, the situation worsened when another downpour struck recently, amplifying the damage and leaving residents reeling from the aftermath. Describing the events as “disastrous” and “unfortunate,” locals are grappling with the enormity of the loss.
In response to the crisis, the traditional ruler of Ajaawa, Oba Thompson Adeyeye, has voiced his grief and called for urgent assistance from government bodies, political representatives, and philanthropists. Additionally, Hon Sunday Makanjuola, the lawmaker representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere federal constituency, has swiftly mobilized his team to assess the extent of the damage and offer support to the affected community.
Expressing profound sorrow over the situation, a domestic aide to Hon Makanjuola stated that the lawmaker is deeply committed to providing relief to the victims. As efforts intensify to address the immediate needs of those impacted by the disaster, collaborative endeavors between stakeholders are crucial in facilitating swift recovery and rehabilitation.
