“Someone who is always late. It was Romelu Lukaku when he came,” Mikel disclosed, reminiscing about the Belgian striker’s early days at the club. Despite this, Mikel was quick to praise Lukaku’s character, describing him as a “lovely guy” who took the feedback seriously and worked on his punctuality. “We had a chat and he realized that he needs to get better with time. And then he sorted it out, and he was fine,” Mikel added.
Romelu Lukaku, who joined Chelsea as a young and promising striker in 2011, has since had a career marked by ups and downs at various clubs across Europe. However, Mikel’s revelation offers a glimpse into the personal growth Lukaku underwent during his formative years at Stamford Bridge.
