CurrentReport Blog In a significant stride towards bolstering security, the Kaduna State Government (KDSG) announced the elimination of several bandits during a coordinated military attack in the Giwa Local Government Area. The operation, carried out by the troops of Operation Whirl Punch, targeted a notorious gathering point near Bula community within the Yadi forest.
Strategic Strike Based on Credible Intelligence
Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, disclosed on Friday that the military’s action was predicated on precise intelligence. The information indicated that bandit leaders were planning a deadly meeting in the area, a move that followed the recent neutralization of key bandit kingpins along the Kaduna-Katsina border.
Aruwan stated, “The intelligence report had revealed that bandits were to converge at the area for a meeting on a deadly mission within the Yadi forest general area.” The troops, acting on this critical data, monitored the movements and confirmed the bandits’ arrival. The group, which included about 7 to 10 armed individuals, was subsequently struck by a well-coordinated air and ground offensive.
High-Value Targets Eliminated
Among those neutralized was Alhaji Kachalla Ragas, identified as a close associate and childhood friend of Buharin Yadi, a notorious figure previously eliminated by security forces. This strike marks another significant victory in the ongoing campaign against banditry in the region.
Aruwan emphasized the thoroughness of the operation: “Upon verification, the location was struck, and scores of the bandits, including Alhaji Kachalla Ragas, were confirmed to have been neutralized by the strike.”
Governor’s Commendation and Call for Vigilance
Governor Uba Sani lauded the military for their swift and precise response. He praised the security forces’ diligence and the crucial intelligence provided by vigilant citizens. The governor also extended his gratitude to those who played a role in identifying and reporting the bandits’ movements.
In his statement, Governor Sani urged the community to remain vigilant and continue supporting security efforts by reporting suspicious activities. “Citizens are encouraged to continue to volunteer useful information on suspicious movements to the state’s security operations room via the following phone lines 09034000060 and 08170189999,” the governor stated.
This operation underscores the state government’s commitment to enhancing security and safeguarding residents from the threat posed by armed bandit groups.
