He was joined by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, and other top officials.
Fagge confirmed that Kano athletes will compete in 20 sporting disciplines, including judo, boxing, cycling, karate, kung fu, swimming, taekwondo, kickboxing, dambe, kokawa (traditional wrestling), para powerlifting, golf, shooting, handball, volleyball, football, gymnastics, and chess.
“Our athletes have undergone intensive training to improve their medal prospects. We are not just going to participate — we are going to compete and win,” Fagge stated.
He urged athletes to maintain discipline, exhibit top-tier sportsmanship, and serve as proud ambassadors of Kano State throughout the festival.
Fagge expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering support, both financially and morally. He also commended Commissioner Kwankwaso, Special Adviser on Youth and Sports Alhaji Sani Danka, and other key figures for their vital roles in supporting the sports commission.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment to restoring its legacy of sporting excellence, Fagge concluded with a strong caution against misconduct, urging all participants to protect the integrity of Kano State.
