Comprehensive New Laws
The new laws are:
- Kogi State Local Government Service Commission Law, 2024: This law, which repeals and re-enacts the 2014 version, aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of local government services across Kogi State.
- Kogi State Scholarship Board Law, 2024: By updating the 1998 edict, this law seeks to streamline and expand scholarship opportunities for students within the state, ensuring broader access to education.
- Kogi State Electricity Market and Regulatory Commission Law, 2024: This legislation establishes a structured electricity market and regulatory framework, essential for boosting energy supply and management in the state.
- Kogi State Anti-Corruption Agency Law, 2024: Aimed at combating corruption, this law underscores the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
- Kogi State Commodity Exchange, Export Promotion, and Market Development Agency Law, 2024: This law is designed to enhance the state’s role in national and international markets by promoting commodity exchange and export activities.
- Kogi State Information Technology Development Agency Law, 2024: Focusing on IT advancement, this law aims to foster digital innovation and development within the state.
Governor Ododo’s Vision
Governor Ododo emphasized the significance of these laws in driving the state’s development forward. Speaking at the signing ceremony, he referred to the new legislations as “people’s laws” that have been crafted to meet the needs and aspirations of Kogi State’s residents.
“These laws combined together can be referred to as the people’s Acts. All the laws have direct bearing on the lives of our people and this is the reason we are here,” said Governor Ododo.
