The visit, which took place on Wednesday, served as a tribute to the remarkable performance of the Nigerian national football team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Olorunleke, Enebi, and Adejoh proudly hail from Kogi State, adding an extra layer of pride to their contributions to the Super Eagles. Olorunleke, representing Enyimba in the Nigeria Premier Football League, showcased his skills as the third-choice goalkeeper for the Super Eagles during the competition. Notably, he stood as the sole local player in the squad, symbolizing the rich footballing talent within the state.

Accompanying Olorunleke was his wife, Tosin Olorunleke, underscoring the familial support behind the athletes’ achievements. The gathering also saw the presence of key figures in Kogi State’s football scene, including Mallam Hassan Wada, chairman of the Kogi State Football Association, and Monday Anyebe, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports.

The AFCON 2023 finals witnessed a thrilling showdown between the Super Eagles and hosts Cote d’Ivoire, culminating in a closely contested match where Nigeria ultimately secured the second position after a hard-fought battle, ending with a 2-1 scoreline in favor of Cote d’Ivoire.
