CurrentReport Blog Paris Saint-Germain’s star forward, Kylian Mbappe, is poised to make a significant move to Real Madrid, as reported by Marca. Despite his current status as PSG’s top earner, Mbappe has opted to join Real Madrid on a lower salary, signing a contract until 2029.
The 25-year-old has already informed PSG of his decision not to extend his contract beyond this season, making him a free agent. While details of the agreement are emerging, it’s understood that Mbappe will earn approximately a third of his current £62 million-a-year gross salary at Real Madrid.
Real President Florentino Perez, mindful of squad dynamics, has ensured that Mbappe’s arrival does not disrupt the wage structure, even though he will still be the highest-paid player at the LaLiga club. Additionally, Mbappe is set to receive a signing-on fee below £40 million.
In a strategic move, Mbappe and Real Madrid have reached a compromise on image rights, with the player expected to retain around 60 per cent of them.
This arrangement aims to offset the reduction in his salary and signing-on fee, ensuring a mutually beneficial agreement for both parties.
