Ajaero in critical condition, may be flown abroad —NLC

CURRENT REPORT BLOG The Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have issued a strike notice to the Federal Government for November 8, in response to the attacks and abduction of NLC President Joe Ajaero. During a briefing, NLC and TUC leaders presented a six-point demand, including the immediate removal of the Imo State Commissioner of Police, the Area Commander, and other officials allegedly involved in the brutalization of Ajaero and other workers. The attack occurred as labor leaders gathered at the NLC State secretariat in Owerri for a scheduled protest addressing unpaid salaries, allowances, pensions, gratuities, and non-compliance with the National Minimum Wage Act. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, and NLC and TUC leaders will meet next Tuesday to determine their response.
