CurrentReport Report In a significant move to enhance public safety, the Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of over 428 individuals from various black spots across the state within just one week. This operation highlights the commitment of the Lagos police to maintaining law and order.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday. According to Hundeyin, the suspects were apprehended in areas known for high crime rates, including Fagba, Orile, Mile-2, Oshodi, Dopemu, Alausa, and Ijora Badia, among others.
The operations were executed by a coordinated effort involving area commands, police divisions, and specialized tactical teams, notably the Rapid Response Squad (RRS). This concerted effort underscores the comprehensive approach the Lagos police are taking to curb criminal activities in the state.
“We have intensified our patrols and intelligence gathering, leading to the arrest of these suspects,” SP Hundeyin remarked. “Our objective is to rid Lagos of criminal elements and ensure a safer environment for all residents.”
Following the arrests, the police conducted thorough screenings to determine the involvement of the suspects in criminal activities. Those who were found not guilty were promptly released, while others will face charges in court. This careful process ensures that justice is served while upholding the rights of individuals.
The recent arrests form part of a broader strategy by the Lagos State Police to tackle crime hotspots and reassure the public of their safety. The police have urged residents to continue cooperating by providing information that could help in crime prevention and resolution.
