Lagos State Government Encourages Active Retirement for Civil Servants

Addressing 257 retirees at the send-forth ceremony held at the Adéyemí Bero Hall, Alausa Ikeja, Agoro highlighted several initiatives and programmes aimed at ensuring a smooth transition into retirement life.

One of the key assurances provided by Agoro is the prompt payment of all pension entitlements. He urged retirees to prioritize proper documentation with relevant offices to avoid delays in processing their claims. Agoro also emphasized the government’s commitment to clearing the backlog of pension liabilities, ensuring that retirement benefits are paid promptly in the future.

Highlighting empowerment opportunities, Agoro outlined various programs such as bi-monthly webinars, quarterly training, skills acquisition, vocational training, and mentoring schemes. These initiatives are designed to make retirees employers of labor and provide additional sources of income post-retirement.

The establishment of the post-service department within the Office of the Head of Service, under the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration, further underscores the government’s dedication to addressing retirees’ welfare and enhancing their lifestyle after retirement.

Sunkanmi Oyegbola, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, commended the retirees for their contributions to the state’s development and encouraged them to prioritize their health and well-being. He urged retirees to utilize the services provided by the post-service department for continued support.

In response, Mr. Adeyinka Yekinni Adeniyi expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for the opportunity to serve meritoriously. A total of 256 retirees were officially bid farewell, with certificates of meritorious service presented to them by the Head of Service, amidst the presence of their families and well-wishers.
