CurrentReport Blog The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the tragic electrocution of a 17-year-old boy while working at a construction site in Alagbado. The incident, which occurred on August 2, has left the community in shock.
According to the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the teenager, whose identity has not been disclosed, was assisting his stepfather, Moses Emmanuel, a welder, in constructing scaffolding at a building on Church Street, Alagbado. The boy tragically stepped on a live wire, which had been carelessly connected from an electric pole, leading to his instant death.
The incident was reported to the Agbado Police Division by the boy’s mother at approximately 10 p.m. the same day. She recounted that she was informed of the tragic accident by her younger brother at around 12:30 p.m.
SP Hundeyin stated, “The boy was working on a scaffolding when he accidentally stepped on a naked wire and was electrocuted on the spot. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the attending doctor.”
A team of detectives from the Agbado Police Division visited the scene, and the boy’s body was removed. The police confirmed that there were no visible marks of violence on the body. The stepfather, Moses Emmanuel, has been taken into custody for questioning as investigations into the incident continue.
