This directive, emphasized by LASBCA’s General Manager, Gbolahan Oki, aims to uphold building standards and ensure the safety and integrity of structures across Lagos.

During the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lagos Arena, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu highlighted the necessity of adhering to regulatory protocols, emphasizing the significance of obtaining necessary permits before initiating construction endeavors.

The letter of authorization serves as a vital document, indicating LASBCA’s awareness of the development and its commitment to conducting thorough supervisions at each stage of the construction process. Oki stressed that this authorization is only granted following the acquisition of essential building and planning permits.

Furthermore, Oki emphasized the issuance of a green sticker alongside the authorization letter, enabling LASBCA to conduct comprehensive inspections from foundation to completion. This meticulous oversight ensures that buildings meet safety standards and are suitable for habitation.

Prior to commencement, developers are required to submit their Building Plan Approval to LASBCA, facilitating the issuance of the Letter of Authorization. Oki reiterated that compliance with regulations streamlines the construction process, culminating in the issuance of a Certificate of Completion and Fitness for Habitation upon project culmination.

In light of rising material costs, Oki cautioned against compromising the quality of building materials, particularly for block makers. Any compromise in material quality could jeopardize the structural integrity of new constructions, posing potential risks to occupants and owners.

Oki urged the building community to prioritize adherence to regulations, inviting LASBCA for comprehensive inspections following the authorization process. This collaborative approach ensures that construction projects align with safety standards and regulatory requirements, ultimately fostering a secure built environment across Lagos State.
