CurrentReport Blog Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has debunked widespread rumors suggesting that Kanu has been released from detention. Ejimakor took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify that these claims are false, describing them as “pure fake news.”
In his post, Ejimakor assured the public that when Kanu is eventually released, it will not require any verification. He stated, “Fake News Alert: The general public is hereby advised to disregard the viral rumor that MAZI NNAMDI KANU has been released. It’s pure #FakeNews. The day #MNK (the #BigElephant & leader of millions) is freed, the earth itself will announce it and it won’t require any confirmation.”
Nnamdi Kanu has been in detention since his extraordinary rendition from Kenya to Nigeria, following his rearrest by Nigerian authorities. Despite court rulings granting him bail, the Nigerian government has refused to release the IPOB leader, keeping him in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Kanu’s legal team has also faced significant hurdles, as the DSS has reportedly blocked multiple attempts to gain access to him.
The continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu has remained a major point of contention, with his supporters and legal team persistently calling for his release, while the Nigerian government remains firm on holding him in custody.
