CurrentReport Blog American rapper Meek Mill, known for hits like “Dreams and Nightmares,” is contemplating a major life change: relocating to Africa, specifically Ghana. The decision comes amidst growing concerns about safety and security in the United States, as highlighted in a series of candid posts on his social media handle.
In these posts, Meek Mill, also known as Robert Rihmeek Williams, expressed his disillusionment with the current state of affairs in America, citing escalating crimes and a pervasive sense of insecurity. He lamented feeling unsafe and emphasized the need to prioritize personal safety, particularly for individuals of color.
One of the key factors driving his desire to move to Ghana is the perceived lack of safety in America, as he believes the country is designed to oppress black men who do not conform to certain expectations. He articulated his intention to pursue Ghanaian citizenship, citing Africa as a refuge from the dangers he perceives in his home country.
Meek Mill highlighted several issues plaguing American society, including the proliferation of illegal firearms, the prevalence of lethal drugs like fentanyl, and concerns about algorithmic manipulation. These concerns, coupled with his positive experiences during his previous visit to Ghana, have solidified his decision to explore the possibility of dual citizenship.
It’s worth noting that Meek Mill’s interest in Ghana is not entirely new. In 2022, the rapper’s phone was stolen during a concert in Ghana, only to be later recovered by local authorities and returned to him.
