The incident, reported by CrossRiverWatch, occurred on August 16, 2023, during the evening. Afor and his friends were collaborating with hunters to collect wild ukazi leaves (gnetum africanum) for sale, aiming to raise funds for their upcoming New Yam festival.crosss 1 1

 

Staying overnight with the hunters, as Ferdinand left to gather ukasi, the hunters set out for a hunt. Tragically, around 7:00 PM, a hunter mistakenly shot him, believing he was targeting an animal,” shared Ofre John, a local who is familiar with the incident, in an interview with the publication on Saturday, August 19th.
